From Teddys 2nd Birthday 2009 |
When you tell somebody you are going to have a baby they always tell you "enjoy it because it goes by so fast," but you don't really know what that means until you actually have a child. Well, I'm happy to report that what they say is, in fact, true. Now that Teddy's 2nd Birthday has come and gone, I've had a little time to reflect on these past two years and nine months have meant to us.
Having a child has been the best thing we have ever done. I remember, just as it were yesterday, from the day the doctor told us we were having a boy to the exact second Teddy came into this world. I remember his first breath, cry and his first look at me, as if to say "OK, this is my Daddy, I think." I remember how traumatic his first bath seemed to Teddy as he screamed and cried. I don't miss the late nights changing and feeding him but, I'd gladly do it again for the reward of that first smile or word.
His first steps were absolutely magical, even if we didn't know what were were in store for now that he could walk. And it seemed as though, as quickly as he learned to walk, he learned to run. There was no stopping that boy.
Teddy's first laughs, first foods, first words (and now sentences and questions) are all permently etched in our hearts with plenty of room for more firsts. I can't wait for what is next. -Ray http://raymondusantos.blogspot.com/
